Former Conackamack staffer rallies students for Week of Respect

Conackamack Middle School students heard an insightful and entertaining presentation on Friday, Oct. 9, when Dr. Andrew Billups visited for the Week of Respect!

Dr. Billups is a former staff member at Conackamack who is now a senior sports psychologist at Rutgers. He presented students with scenarios and information about how they can maintain respect for their peers, environment, and family, as well as themselves.

His presentation featured interactive exercises, including grade-wide Rock-Paper-Scissors games that showed the power of choices, and a game for teachers combining math and physical activity that showed how external forces can interfere with doing the right thing.

He offered examples of how to show respect in a range of situations, and called on students to offer their insight on how they would react to different scenarios.
